1. These terms
These terms apply when you use Plum Mahjong: the website at plummahjong.com, the web game and the apps (together, “the game”). By playing, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the game. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
If you download an app from the App Store or Google Play, the store’s own terms also apply to the download. Apple and Google are not responsible for the game.
2. Using the game
Plum Mahjong is free. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to play it for your own enjoyment. You may share links to boards, rooms and challenges with anyone.
The game is not directed at children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to play online.
3. Fair play
Online matches and leaderboards only work if everyone plays honestly. You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts, automation, solvers or any tool that plays or chooses moves for you in online matches or on leaderboards;
- tamper with the game, its traffic or its results, or exploit bugs to gain an advantage (please report bugs to us instead);
- play on someone else’s account, sell or trade accounts, or use several accounts to boost your own rating or results;
- deliberately lose, coordinate results with another player, or abuse invites to bother other players;
- overload, attack, scrape or try to get unauthorised access to our servers.
Our server checks results by replaying the moves. If we find cheating or abuse, we may remove results, reset ratings, hide your results from other players, or suspend or delete the online account, depending on how serious it is. Solo play on your own device is never affected.
4. Display names
Every online player gets a generated name, and you can choose your own. A name must not:
- be offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or harassing;
- impersonate another person, a brand, or Plum Mahjong staff;
- contain personal information such as a phone number, address or email, or advertise anything.
Names are checked by a filter, and any player can report a name. A name that breaks these rules may be replaced with a generated one, and repeated abuse can lead to suspension. There is no free-text chat in the game.
5. Coins, helpers and no gambling
You earn coins by playing, and can spend them on in-game helpers such as Hint, Undo and Shuffle. Coins, helpers, IQ, ratings, stars and places:
- have no real-money value and cannot be exchanged for money, prizes or anything outside the game;
- cannot be bought, sold or transferred to other players;
- may be rebalanced as the game changes.
Plum Mahjong is a game of skill for fun. There is no betting, no wagering and no prizes of any kind, and you must not use the game for gambling.
6. Your online account and deleting it
Online play uses an account stored on your device, without email or password. Keep your transfer code private: anyone who has it can take over the account. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
You can delete your online account at any time in the game, under Settings → Delete my online data, or by email (see delete account). This removes your name, ratings, friends, results and progress backup from our server and cannot be undone. Your solo progress on the device stays. You can stop playing at any time; we may also close an account that breaks these terms.
7. Our content
The game, its tile art, sounds, code, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. Apart from the right to play described above, these terms do not give you any rights in them. Fonts and open-source components are used under their own licences.
8. Changes and availability
We keep improving the game, so features, levels and balance may change. Online play depends on our servers and your connection, and may sometimes be unavailable. We may stop offering online features or the game in the future; if so, we will try to give reasonable notice in the game. If we change these terms in an important way, we will update the date above and tell you in the game; continuing to play means you accept the new terms.
9. Liability
The game is provided free, “as is” and “as available”, without any promise that it will be error-free or always online, to the extent the law allows.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of progress, coins or ratings, or for anything caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the last 12 months (for a free game, nothing) or 50 euros.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [governing law to be confirmed]. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.
